Somerset Wedding Photographer : Chanel & Phil : Part Two

Chanel & Phil chose to travel from London to Somerset to marry. Gants Mill in Bruton provided a slice of Somerset paradise for their wedding day celebrations and they brought with them a highly energetic and fun loving band of guests as well as a steel band to entertain them through the afternoon and night.

I sensed that the evening party was going to be quite something…

Not only does Gants Mill offer a beautiful environment but it’s proprietors, Elaine and Greg, bring exceptional service to bear in tending to the needs of their clients. I’ve not come across wedding venue proprietors or coordinators that work harder to ensure everything runs perfectly whilst also maintaining an easy going and friendly demeanour. Greg also serves as an accomplished and engaging master of ceremonies at various key points during celebrations…

Post wedding breakfast (and my thanks to the superbly talented and particularly friendly caterers, Taste Somerset, for introducing me to their culinary delights and keeping me sustained into the deep of the night!) it was time for the speeches…

Chanel’s brother had walked her up the aisle earlier in the day and had given her hand to Phil at the altar. His speech was fantastic…

Phil had himself three best men. He simply couldn’t choose between them to do the honours as each had played such key roles in his life and continued to do so. Whilst all had their own tales to relate, one having got to know him at school, one at university and one through work, an initial binding theme of tenacity, hope and care ran through all three speeches.

The first dance and much of the evening’s dance-floor related adventures were accompanied by the truly uplifting tunes of the Reading All Steel Percussion Orchestra. RASPO had also played through the cocktail reception earlier that afternoon. Their translation of rock, pop and dance-floor classics to the steel drums was sublime. Having danced my way through photographing the earlier cocktail reception it was as much as I could do to maintain a firm stance to photograph the first dance and come the subsequent dancing, there was no holding back for me!

Having hired a documentary wedding photographer, Phil felt obliged to look off, totally spontaneously, into the distance suggesting an image of action going on elsewhere…

Phil promised a collective dance-floor phenomena would manifest itself as the evening progressed. He didn’t exaggerate.

Congratulations Chanel & Phil and thanks for bringing me along on your Somerset wedding day adventure. My thanks also to your gregarious band of guests for being such friendly folk to spend time amongst.
