Lucy & Gareth. Childhood sweethearts, so the story goes. Not quite from nursery age though which my marketing manager, who brokered the commission, currently finds herself at.
It all connects together in a great big circle, of sorts.
Lucy & Gareth married at St. Mark’s Church in Talbot Woods, Bournemouth and celebrated at The Chine Hotel on an action packed yet highly relaxed wedding day. Sounds like a contradiction in terms doesn’t it? It is possible though, as they proved.

With apologies to Hamish, one of Gareth's two Best Men. A highly photogenic chap in most circumstances, in the interests of anthropological understanding I simply had to add him here to the visual knowledge base of man's relationship with flowers on weddings days. Despite Hamish's trepidation at being skewered on a pin I've not seen a set of buttonholes go on quite so efficiently before.

A pitfall of accepting commissions where Groom and Best Men are noticeably taller than the photographer.

Spot the odd one out. Could go two ways really. Maybe even three (and more come to think of it).

From a distance I had less of a problem taking in their magnificent height(s). I reckon we have 21 foot there, combined. Groom Gareth, Best Man Craig and Best Man Hamish.

Annnnnnnnd... breathe.

I've no idea where that light suddenly came from. I imagine through the window. How timely though.

Rev. Jones gave me free reign of the chorister free choir stalls.

I have a terrible vision of the future. Brides and grooms wearing helmets. Guests showering them with mobile 'phones and compact cameras.

Now here's a new one on me which probably only proves that I've not lived, or simply never been caught short of a reflective surface when applying make-up. If someone's just tossed a digital camera at you I think it's yours to keep and use as you see fit anyway.

A rare concession to blogging a group shot.

Lucy & Gareth made a getaway to the hotel.

Their driver dismissed the scriptwriter.

I do have one where people are looking straight to camera. I think. They might even be smiling and laughing in that one but for now, I'll indulge my mild fascination with the dynamic of group photographs as the parties come together.

After our pre-wedding shoot Lucy & Gareth knew what I looked like. The others are still searching for me in the grass.

Lucy has a great love for the theatrical and in particular, singing. In great part this is why she chose The Chine Hotel for the wedding day celebrations.

An unusual period of the wedding day to go on shoe safari (with a tip of the hat to Mrs. Lawson, or a tilt of the insole perhaps) but Lucy forewent photography during bridal preparations and it's not like she needed them to eat her wedding breakfast.

It's always particularly pleasing to meet one of my blog commenters in person.

F.O.B. John, a natural comic talent and eloquent orator to boot, opened the speeches with aplomb.

Lucy. Following in her father's footsteps. Visited some fine rhetorical destruction upon the men in her life.

L ... U, C, Y....... L ... U, C, Y-aye.

Lucy knows that what went around is coming around sooner rather than later.

Or sooner yet.

Best Men Craig and Hamish clearly relishing their turn at the podium.

The shutter speeds displayed in my EXIF data suggest a hilarious set of speeches indeed.

The act warms up for the first dance.

I couldn’t think of an appropriate onomatopoeic term but here’s an example that, rather bizarrely, you can vote on.

"Dancefloor. Now."

Yet again I wished I could photograph a voice.

4Gone. Vocal Tribute to Disco (so says their business card and I couldn't have put it better myself). Utterly, utterly, utterly fantastic and then a great deal more brilliant again.
Visit 4Gone’s Web site and book them now, before demand drives their fees through the roof.

Yes. An abrupt narrative shift.

I've looked up Paul & Paul, and found that great URL. Thanks for the sterling business advice too! Pardon me everyone else while I just have a quick sideline chat with your man here.
