I risk perhaps being banished from the inner echelons of the preparatory circle at weddings but my anthropological inclinations inspire me to share a discovery. When I say ‘discovery’ I’ve little doubt that to the female demographic here, use of that expression will come across as over-egging the subject. It was a discovery though and a profound one at that.
Received wisdom has it, certainly amongst men at least, that women are great multi-taskers. In photographing bridal preparations and other aspects of wedding days I’ve discovered that it goes a great deal further than that. It’s not uncommon to see one vaguely confused and bemused man helping another tie a cravat or attach a buttonhole on many a wedding day but how many of us (men at least, once more) have had the privilege of witnessing the Formula One pit-stop-team like speed, efficiency and proficiency of a bridal party at work?
Witness in the opening image the Maid of Honour lacing the dress of our Bride as she in turn applies make-up to her Mother. I was that overwhelmed by the profundity of this scene, my legs gave way. Serendipitously the ground made for the best angle to frame the scene from.

One shoe each to deal with, there's time even for one of our bridal pit crew to take a break.

Don't stop the dance. Dress repair on the fly.
More to come, for certain! :~)

Mark - I love the dress patch job photo! Great work!
Kat Forsyth - Haha! I’m loving this “wedding secret” series. Great captures!
Victor Saidov - These look like a lot of fun! That picture of the boy is soo cute!:) Can’t wait to see the rest!
Gina - Love your lighting and colors! Great insight, loving this set of photographs.
Lisa Fellows - Shrewd observation there – the idea of a bridal pit-stop team really isn’t all that far from the truth! I particularly like the opening image, too.
Shyann - Great shots!!! I love that first one! She has a beautiful dress!
Alan Hutchison - Aha – nice observations here and an implication that us poor men really do struggle to walk and chew gum at the same time. Women truly are the masters of the multi-task.
In fact it reminds me of the time I was driving along a busy motorway and I looked across at this gorgeous woman driving along beside me at 70mph – well wouldn’t you know it she was quite happilly driving along while applying her lipstick in the rear view mirror.
I got such a shock I managed to drop my cigarette onto my nice leather seats, spill my coffee down my trousers severly burning myself, and ruining the nice magazine I was reading at the time.
;-)
PS Great images!
